RODERICK HINES Announce Wedding of Miss Mildred Deppe To Roderick Hines The marriage, of Miss Mildred I Deppe, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. i | John Deppe, of Deewey street, Ber- I wick, to Roderick Hines, son of Mr. I and Mrs. Edward Hines, of South | Warren street, Berwick, has been ij announced. The couple was married last ???j July in the First Presbyterian ;|| Church, of Williamsport by the Rev. Ganse Little. Mrs. Hines has been a teacher jof French and Latin in the high school at Howard, Penn., for the | past five years. Mr. Hines is a : draftsman in the mechanical dep- I artment of the A. C. & F. plant. The couple are residing in the j new Dent apartments on Orange i street. f 1 A Happy 2 ny'*' The many Bloomsburg fans of a Danny Litwhiler are getting a lot j I of good reading these days as rea ports from the Phillies training ] camp tell how the Ringtown native. I and Bloomsburg College alumnus is ; i pounding the ball around. Local fans appreciate the fact that! | the Phils, unless a miracle happens, | ??? are going to have just as firm a hold on last place in the National | League as ever during the coming season???what with Higbe sold and \ Mulcahey in the army of Uncle Sam. s >*But be that as it may, just so long ; | as Danny delivers as the local fans i are pulling for him to do, the Phils \ J will be first in big league interest 9 in Bloomsburg and the magnet that \ , will draw hundreds of regional fans into the Phil ball park during the I coming season A College Commercial Contest Being Planned i oenig i ia 3-/v~-4/ William C. Forney, director, department of business education. Bloomsburg State Teachers College, announced last night that he has sent out one thousand letters to commercial teachers throughout the state regarding plans for the eleventh annual Pennsylvania commercial contest to be held at the college April 26 and May 3. As in the past few years the high schools participating in the contest will be divided into two classes, class A and class B. Class A schools are those having three or more full-time commercial teachers during the school year 1940-41, and will contest April 26. Class B schools are having less than threb full-time commercial teachers during the school year 1940-41, and will contest Saturday morning. May 3. The new feature in this year's contest is the awarding of a plaque to the best team of contestants :n both class A and class B. In the past ten years, a silver cup was awarded to the best team in class A to be held by that school for one year. The school winning the cup three times was to be awarded the cup permanently. Last year Ridley Park High School was the successful school to meet the requirements, and the cup was awarded to that school for permanent possession. A Evening Planned 3- Kiwanis ??? Rotary - College Evening Arranged for Tomorrow at 6 A large audience is expected to enjoy the program which has been arranged for the fourteenth annual Kiwanis-Rotary-College evening to 'be held at the Teachers College tomorrow evening, opening with a six ??? o???clock dinner. A short program will consist of greetings from the presidents of the 1 service clubs, Arthur S. Clay of ; Rotary and Dr. T. P. North of Kiwanis, and President Harvey A. Andruss of the college. Other " guests will be presented but the ' dining hall portion of the evening is 1 expected to be concluded by 7:301 o???clock. Following a fifteen minute inter.mission the auditorium program will ' open. This year the College orchestra, under the direction of Howard F. Fenstemaker, and the fifth in a series of college films, directed by George J. Keller, will be featured.
