Dr. Maroney To Speak at College Dinner ???z. 'r/. ** Columbia University Faculty Member To Speak a-V^-3^ Dr. F. W. Maroney. o t teachers col-| lege,??? Columbia Uniersity. will make the address at the Bloomsburg State Teachers College at the ninth annual i athletic dinner and dance which \vill be held at the College on Saturday j evening. May 20, at which time men j and girl athletes of the institution v ill be honored. This is Dr. Moroney???s second appearance at the dinner as the speaker of the evening. He was here sorne years ago and made a splendid impression with the forceful message, j The College athletic dinner, developed during the administration of Dr. Francis B. Haas, the president, has become one of the outstanding evetns of the college year. Rotary Club Hears Speaker ' C>??l . Dr. E. H. Nelson, of Bloomsburg, Talks Before Catawissa Service Club The Catawissa Rotary Club meeting was well attended, last evening. Twovisitors, William Deeter. of Danville, and t)r. E. H. Nelson, of Bloomsburg, were present. Dr. Nelson was the speaker of the evening. W. E. Rhawn, chairman ofj the booster meeting, reported progress, on the plans so far. The meeting will* be held May 22nd in the Methodist church. Rabbi Louis Levitski, of Wilkcs-BarrCi, will be the speaker. The club will provide transportation for the Tri-County baseball team of! Catawissa to the games this summer. Four members are attending the 177th| district convention at the Inn at Buckhill Falls this week. They are: Mr. and Mrs. C. E. Kreisher, Mr. and Mrs. R. E. Achy, Mr. and Mrs. Robert F. Ridawav and t Herman. 1. 119 To Graduate At College May 29 'y] I Commencement Week Program Is Announced For B.S.T.C. That morning the graduating will conclude the chapel program at ten o???clock. The traditional colorful IvjT Day exercises will be on the campus at four o???clock in the after-f | noon and an informal senior party will I !be in the college gymnasium that eve-| ??? " banquet and Ball at Wilkes-Barre ,| | The senior banquet and ball will be held in the Crystal ballroom at the Hotel Sterling. Wilkes-Barre, Wednesday evening, May 24. s Friday and Saturday, May 26 and 27. i | will be given over to the Centennial I Celebration with Community Day Friday and Alumni Day Saturday. Rev. Radcliffe to Give Message The baccalaureate service will be held in the College auditorium at 2:30 o???clock Sunday afternoon. May 28, | with the Rev. Edwin J. Radcliffe, pas- | tor of the First Baptist Church, of town, to deliver the message. The Rev. Mr. Radcliffe, dean of pastors in Bloomsburg in point of service, this : Spring is concluding his pastorate at the local church to devote his future time to study of the Bible. Following the commencement on May 29, there will be a luncheon meeting of the board of trustees at the col-1 lege dining hall at 12:30 o???clock. Well Known Educator Dr, Hunt is a graduate of Brown University where he was awarded the A. B. degree. At Columbia University he received the A. M. and Ph. D. degrees. ?? He has a wide background of experience having taught at teachers college. Columbia University: served as dean of extramural instruction at the University of Pittsburgh, been dean of the school of education at Western Reserve University, and, since 1933, principal of the Oneonta Normal School. He has served as secretary of the American Association of Teachers Colleges and executive secretary of the accrediting committee of the Associa- I tian for eleven years. He is also a member of the Commission on Teacher Education of the American Council of / To Hold Exhibits At College Fete & J Old To Be Linked With New When B.S.T.C. Marks 100 Years of Life One of the fine features of the Cen- I tennial Celebration at the College will I be the exhibits and these will be on I display at every hand during Friday 11 and Saturday, May 26 and 27. Thousands of exhibits will show the) progress of the institution through the1 century and revive memories for many. The past will be linked with| the present in exhibition of the work I of many of the departments as now1 carried on at the institution. , Dr. H. H. Russel, of the College fac-( lulty, is general chairman of this fea-| ture and a great mass of material of real interest to those connected with, the institution, has already bfeen received. Most is expected before the celebration starts. All articles loaned! are carefully marked and will be re-' turned to the owners as soon as the celebration is concluded. Prof. John J. Fisher heads the com-| mittee which is going to show through exhibits the development of the institution???s curriculum through the century. The curriculum of the past will be exhibited the work of each of the t present departments, Asside lor the curriculum development, many of the exhibits Will be in | the library where its presentation will be in charge of Miss Pearl Mason. Mrs. Etta Keller has charge of the committee on pictures and already this ! committee has received hundreds of I photographs spreading over the period of the institution???s activities. It is planned to have an exhibit I every publication issued by the college or any of its classes or departments since 1839, insofar as this is possible. Judged by the manner in which these publications are being located, this feature will be almost complete and is in charge of a committee headed 1 ???by Prof. S. L. Wilson. Every effort will be made to keep! ???these exhibits open through both daysj 'of the celebration. Inasmuch as many|| i classes, however, will be in reunion on Saturday, May 27, it may be necessary to remove some of the exhibits early.l For that reason those interested in this | Ifeature should plan to view it on Fri-| May 26- * Yearly Visit s\\*W\ i Bloomsburg State Teachers College nine this afternoon will make its annual trip to Danville State Hospital to | meet the strong nine of that place. The . game is never regularly scheduled but | the college always makes arrangements to play one game in Danville. Many of the patients at the institution are real fans and have a keen [ knowledge of the game. The Hospital I always has a splendid nine that meets the best available and wins consistent- | ly. The collegians like to play in Dan- | ville. They meet a first class club and | perform in the presence of a crowd | that is well informed on the game.
