About this collection

Jessie Scott Himes taught kindergarten and primary education courses at the Central State Normal School from 1920 – 1936. She also supervised student teachers at the model school located on campus. Himes lived beside campus, located at 47 Susquehanna Avenue. Her home was purchased by the school in 1966 and subsequently torn down in order to build Zimmerli. Also in 1966, at the age of 94, she attended the dedication of the building named in her honor, Himes Hall.
