students reach out to community i by marissa haines staff writer millersville university has earned its place on the president's higher education community service honor roll outstanding of millersville's students and various organizations campus is what university's spot prestigious list only a select amount institutions are chosen each year to receive this award it most distinguished college or can for recognition based several factors such as percentage student involvement incentives service scope innovation projects extent which school offers service learning classes year total 635 schools were recognized across nation president george w bush started program in 2006 since then been roll list year many different participate also compete charity king queen during homecoming where have raised thousands dollars local national charities helping out become an important aspect to numerous clubs on campus the dedication of students has had a positive impact not only charities they help but themselves as well recent study done by corporation for national and commu we salute millersville 1 university for making community service a campus priority and thank the millions of college students who are helping to renew america through others stephen goldsmith cance and impact that students have in volunteering the corporation for national community service volunteering has been working alliance with federal agencies higher education student associations and non profit organizations to promote volunteer work around nation on college campuses this includes giving more annual $400000 contribution to millersville borough by announcing a gift an additional $loooo in 2004 the state supreme court struck downtax levied on residential lease transactions boroughso is required pay back plus interest deemed receiving these funds as unconstitutional 2004 faces debt $30000 from not funds has back all such received between 2005 2008 slabinski been with university for 39 years over those years regularly contributed community 29 that sli university it largest taxpayer borough—and voluntarily because itself forbidden law even dime property taxes (taxes aid community) interactive exhibits workstations and mini labs that teach them about the many aspects science working closely with school district lancaster they created a science lab program where factory allows
